How we protect your data

When you use iWakeel, we collect the following categories of information:

• check_circleAccount information: name, email address, phone number, city, and role (client or lawyer) when you register.
• check_circleLawyer profile information: bar council registration number, practice areas, courts covered, experience, fee range, languages, and photo.
• check_circleUsage data: pages visited, searches performed, bookings made, and documents generated.
• check_circlePayment data: payment type and amounts in PKR. Card details are handled entirely by our payment processor and are never stored on our servers.
• check_circleCommunications: contact form submissions, Q&A posts, chat messages between clients and lawyers.

We use the information we collect to:

• check_circleProvide, operate, and improve the iWakeel platform.
• check_circleConnect clients with verified lawyers by city and practice area.
• check_circleProcess bookings, document reviews, and payments in PKR.
• check_circleSend transactional emails (booking confirmations, receipts).
• check_circleDisplay verified lawyer profiles and ratings publicly.
• check_circleRespond to support enquiries and feedback.

We do not sell your personal data. We never share your contact details with marketers or unrelated third parties.

We share information only in these limited circumstances:

• check_circleBetween clients and lawyers: when a booking or chat is initiated, both parties receive the relevant contact details needed for the consultation.
• check_circleService providers: Supabase (database), Stripe (payments), and our hosting provider process data on our behalf under data-processing agreements.
• check_circleLegal requirements: we may disclose data if compelled by a valid Pakistani court order or a binding obligation under PECA 2016 or related law.

Communications conducted between a client and a verified lawyer through iWakeel's booking and chat features may attract lawyer–client privilege under Pakistani law. iWakeel does not access, read, or moderate the substantive content of these communications except where required to protect the integrity of the platform or comply with a lawful order.

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including HTTPS encryption in transit, row-level security on our database, and JWT-based authentication. No system is completely secure — please use a strong, unique password for your iWakeel account and enable any multi-factor authentication options as they become available.

You have the right to:

• check_circleCorrect inaccurate or outdated profile information.
• check_circleRequest deletion of your account — accounts are soft-deleted for 30 days, then permanently erased.
• check_circleWithdraw consent for non-essential communications at any time.

iWakeel uses essential cookies to maintain your login session. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but doing so may prevent you from signing in.

iWakeel is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will remove it.

We retain active account data for as long as your account exists. Certain records — payment history, booking records, and lawyer-verification documentation — may be retained for up to seven (7) years to comply with Pakistani tax and regulatory requirements.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to registered users by email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
